Larry Wieshuhn is a professional ildlife biologist, award-winning outdoor writer, book author, speaker, and television personality who grew up in rural Texas. Although he "much preferred the woods to the classroom", he graduated from Texas A&M University as a wildlife biologist.
Larry established quality wildlife management programs with emphasis on whitetail deer on well over 15 million acres across North America. He was instrumental in developing many of the management practices used today to produce quality deer and habitat.
Larry's bylines have appeared in most all the major publications. He has written well over 2500 featured articles and many columns. He has served on staff with such publications as Peterson's Hunting, Shooting Times, Deer & Deer Hunting, Sporting Classics, and numerous others. The author of several books, his Trailing the Hunter's Moon was awarded the prestigious "ForeWord Magazine 2003 Gold Book of the Year", beating several thousand titles in the Adventure and Recreation category.
Larry is an extremely popular speaker, both seminars and after dinner. He has long served as a featured speaker for the NRA's Great American Hunters Tour and often serves as a featured speaker at National and International gatherings regarding wildlife management and hunting.
Larry hosts and co-hosts many related outdoor television shows on such networks as Espn2, Versus, The Outdoor Channel, Men's Outdoors and Recreation, and Fox Sports among others.
Although known as "Mr. Whitetail" because of his research management and hunting promotion of whitetail deer, Larry has hunted throughout the world. Much of his hunting has been done with Thompson Center Arms single shot rifles and pistols. He is one of the three co-founders of the Texas Wildlife Association and is a Professional Member of Boone and Crockett Club and co-owner of Los Cazadores.
