George Cochran grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He spent his early childhood fishing off the family's backyard boat dock and later from a john-boat. His most important fishing and hunting lessons were taught to him by his neighbor, Pete Jaworski. Pete taught George how to be patient to fish and hunt methodically. The two were a team hunting and fishing together for 40 years.
These early chapters instilled a love and desire of being in the outdoors. A love that has endured the ups and downs of fishing professionally and has given him an appreciation and respect for wildlife.
George spends the fall and winter months near Stuttgart, Arkansas duck and deer hunting. He has been a guest on several hunting shows throughout his career, his most recent appearance was his first elk hunt which he considered the best hunt of his life.
Fishing professionally for 28 years, George's accomplishments include winning the Bassmasters Classic Championship in '87 and '96, and the FLW Forest Wood Cup Championship in 2005. George loves his profession and loves competing. If he is not in a tournament he is fishing or hunting somewhere.
George has stated that one of the rewards of fishing professionally is the lasting friendships with the other fishermen such as Forest Wood, Larry Nixon, and many others. George considers these friendships priceless.
