2010 Induction Ceremony A Huge Success |
|
“Only in America can a woman of Asian descent fulfill her lifelong dream of making a living in a bass boat! One of my greatest experiences was going overseas and visiting with our troops and expressing my appreciation for all they do to keep our country free.” This statement was made by two time Women Bass Champion Judy Wong as she accepted her induction to the Legends of the Outdoors National Hall of Fame. Judy Wong was not the only one to express their love and appreciation for our great country. Gary Yamamoto, creator of the Yamamoto lures has gone to other countries to represent the United States and as he introduced Wong, he shared a small bit of his experience. Rob Keck, former CEO of the National Wild Turkey Federation and Guest of Honor shared a very personal, heart felt experience of going back to Germany with his father that served there to help liberate their country. Rob and his father stood in a frozen over cemetery in fifteen inches of snow with snow still falling where more than eight thousand American soldiers were buried. The curator of the cemetery asked the Keck’s if they would do the honors of taking down the American flag and folding it, which they did together. After the huge flag was folded the curator presented it to the elder Keck to bring back to America. With tears in his eyes he held our flag to his chest and said “Boys, we are going home!”
